Dear Readers,
Welcome to the Planet Healers Substack—a space dedicated to empowering you with the knowledge and tools to heal our planet and become good stewards of the natural world.
For years, we’ve worked directly with nature—hosting interns, leading workshops, and sharing hands-on skills in ecosystem restoration. Whether planting native species, improving soil health, or learning the intricacies of biodiversity, these experiences have always been about one thing: helping people reconnect with the Earth and build a sustainable future.
But time is short.
The challenges facing our planet are vast and urgent. We’re losing biodiversity at an alarming rate, our climate is shifting in unpredictable ways, and ecosystems that sustain us are under threat. Yet, there’s hope. There’s always hope—because nature is resilient, and so are we.
This is why we’re going digital. Through this Substack series, we aim to share the knowledge we’ve accumulated over decades of ecological restoration work. Our goal is to empower as many people as possible to take meaningful action—whether it’s in your backyard, your community, or on a larger scale.
What to Expect
Each post will bring you closer to understanding how ecosystems function and how we can restore them. You’ll learn about:
The web of life: how everything in nature is interconnected.
Practical restoration techniques: From improving soil health to rewilding degraded landscapes.
The role of biodiversity: why saving species matters for all of us.
Tools for stewardship: How you can contribute to restoring ecosystems, no matter where you are.
Along the way, we’ll share stories from the field, lessons learned from hosting interns, and insights from collaborating with people who are deeply passionate about healing the Earth.
Why This Matters
Restoration isn’t just about saving nature—it’s about saving ourselves. Healthy ecosystems provide clean water, fertile soil, fresh air, and a stable climate. They are the foundation of life as we know it.
By understanding how these systems work, we can become better stewards. Each of us has a role to play, whether it’s planting trees, supporting conservation efforts, or simply making more sustainable choices. Together, we can create a future where both people and nature thrive.
Join the Movement
This Substack is more than a newsletter—it’s a call to action. As you read and learn, we hope you’ll find ways to apply these lessons in your life and inspire others to do the same. Together, we can build a community of Planet Healers, united in our mission to restore ecosystems and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s heal this planet, one step at a time.
With hope and determination,
Paul Morris and Sophia Ortiz
